Art Blocks - The Works of Joris Hoefnagel
Hoefnagel was a Flemish watercolor artist. In the late 1500’s he was commissioned by Emperor Rudolf II to illustrate the Mira calligraphiae monumenta (the Model Book of Calligraphy) He began the work more than 15 years after the death of the calligrapher, Georg Bocskay of Hungary. This gorgeous manuscript was recently released by the Getty Museum into public domain.
Charlene has prepared these images to work perfectly on her Art Block series. In class we will collage and seal the images onto 2.5” wooden blocks and embellish with metallic gold paint and gilding.
