Drawing and the Art of Seeing “B” - a 6 class series
Drawing is a teachable skill. The reason that it seems unattainable to many is that we are used to looking, but not seeing what is right before our eyes. Based on both Alice’s personal experience in representational drawing, as well as on Betty Edward’s excellent book “Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain”, students will practice a variety of exercises to both encourage their perception of, and produce in the form of various marks on paper, edges, spaces, relationships, and light and dark.
Drawings done from still-life arrangements will be in a realistic mode, with individual artistic interpretation encouraged. Students will have access to, as well as lessons in, a variety of drawing media and tools.
Beginners are warmly welcomed, as well as more seasoned artists who wish to extend their practice. Both will find themselves in a positive and supportive environment. While this is a group class, Alice tailors her instruction to the individual.
